Zero Friends Again
Episode 5 of Skeleton Crew ended with Jod finally showing his true colours by betraying Wim, Neel, KB and Fern and taking command of Onyx Cinder. The kids escape from Captain Rennod’s lair by triggering one of the traps.
The new episode of Skeleton Crew begins with the kids tumbling down a slide after escaping from the lair but they get separated in the process. Thankfully, all the slides end up in the same place, on the snowy mountains of Lanupa. All the kids are fine, but KB is unable to move. Fern explains to the others that her augmentations, AKA her cybernetic visor that's connected to her head, have gone bad, and that is why KB can't move anymore. Fern resets her occipital link, which allows KB to move, but she is still very slow.
Meanwhile, Jod, having the time of his life, comes out of Captain Rennod’s treasure pit, which he had discovered in the previous episode, only to be captured by Brutus’ men. The pirates hurriedly escape from the mountain along with Jod as the New Republic X-wings appear out of nowhere from the sky and start firing at them.
Down on the mountain, KB is coming, and she reveals that she has the coordinates for At Attin. Listening to this, KB comes up with a “perfect” plan to climb back up to their ship, which was still on top of Skull Ridge Mountain, and fly back home. KB storms off after listening to her friend's plan. KB tells Fern that she wants to consider other options.
While KB and Fern are having this discussion, little creatures called Trash Crabs start to scuttle about Neel and Wim’s feet. Seeing this, Fern pulls them off, but Wim says they are friendly. Wim suggests that they should follow the carbs as they are locals and can help them. KB agrees with Wim, and the group splits into two: Wim and KB follow the crabs, and Fern and Neel go to the top of the mountain to retrieve their ship.
On the pirate ship, Brutus sentences Jod to death by airlock for his crimes, but pirates have a tradition of last appeal, which is granted to him. During his speech, he can convince the pirates that he can give them unlimited wealth. Jod's life is spared after this, but Brutus warns him that if he fails to deliver what he has promised, he will make him regret it.
On the other hand, Fern and Neel are trying to get back on the cliff by ropes and ladders. They notice that their ship is being taken away by the junkyard ship. The duo makes a daring jump off the ladder and lands on top of one of the junkyard ships.
The trash crabs lead KB and Wim to their home, where their very hungry parents are waiting. Both of them are backed into the corner and Fern appears to the rescue. Wim and KB jump on the junkyard ship, but they crash into each other and start spinning out of control.
The kids regroup after falling from the ship but they are faced with another difficult situation: a massive junkyard ship is heading towards the Onyx Cinder. The crew work together to save their ship from the clutches of the beast and are successful, but only after Fern activates the Emergency Hull Demolition Sequencer. The crew flies away as the Cinder turns into a smaller vessel.
